Our recent renovation at this stunning penthouse apartment in Double Bay transformed the space into a modern, open-concept living area, designed to embrace natural light and exceptional views of the harbour. The renovation was a complete overhaul that involved strategic reworking of the floor plan to create an expansive, seamless living environment.
Key Features of the Renovation:
Open-Concept Kitchen: One of the major changes involved relocating the original bathroom and laundry to make way for a sleek, walk-through galley kitchen. This new space features a servery window and a skylight, which floods the area with natural light, creating an airy, inviting atmosphere.
Second Bedroom Ensuite & Powder Room: The old kitchen area was reimagined into a luxurious ensuite for the second bedroom, while a stylish laundry/powder room was added, enhancing the home’s functionality without sacrificing style.
Flooring: The penthouse’s flooring was upgraded from carpet to premium European oak engineered flooring in a beautiful herringbone pattern, adding warmth and elegance to the space.
Master Bedroom & Ensuite: The master bedroom received a full renovation with fresh paint, new carpet, and a completely renovated ensuite, creating a tranquil and refined retreat.
Sunroom & Courtyard: The sunroom was fully paneled with pristine tongue-and-groove V-joints, then repainted to perfectly complement the space. This room seamlessly connects to a large private courtyard, offering expansive views of Double Bay and the harbour beyond.
Challenges and Solutions:
This renovation presented several logistical challenges, especially when it came to transporting building materials in and out of the building. With a very tight lift and narrow stairway, we worked carefully to navigate the space and ensure materials were delivered efficiently without compromising the project’s quality or timeline.
The end result is a stunning penthouse that blends modern design with practical functionality, offering a luxurious living space that maximizes both comfort and the breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
